A parabolic system of chemotaxis with degenerate diffusion is studied on the \(n\)-dimensional cube. The authors show that loss of stability of homogeneous steady states is accompanied in some cases by emergence of nonhomogeneous steady states. This mechanism of pattern formation is also illustrated by numerical simulations.
