Two smooth projective \(X\) and \(Y\) are called \textbf{D}-equivalent if they are derived equivalent, i.e. \(D^b(X)\cong D^b(Y)\). Let \(\mathbb{L}\) denote the class of the affine line \(\mathbb{A}^1\) in the Grothendieck ring \(K_0(Var/k)\) of \(k\)-varieties. We say \(X\) and \(Y\) are \textbf{L}-equivalent if the difference \([X]-[Y]\) is annihilated by some power of \(\mathbb{L}\) in \(K_0(Var/k)\), i.e. \(([X]-[Y])\cdot \mathbb{L}^r=0\), \(r\geq 0\). Suppose the smooth projective varieties \(X\) and \(Y\) are simply connected. In [Sel. Math., New Ser. 24, No. 4, 3475--3500 (2018; Zbl 1450.11036)], \textit{A. Kuznetsov} and \textit{E. Shinder} conjecture \textbf{D}-equivalence implies \textbf{L}-equivalence. \textit{A. Bondal} and \textit{D. Orlov}'s theorem [Compos. Math. 125, No. 3, 327--344 (2001; Zbl 0994.18007)] asserts the conjecture for varieties having ample or anti-ample canonical bundles. It is interesting to consider the conjecture for Calabi-Yau varieties. Many examples of Calabi-Yau threefolds that verify the conjecture have been found. Among them \textit{M. Kapustka} and \textit{M. Rampazzo} [Commun. Number Theory Phys. 13, No. 4, 725--761 (2019; Zbl 1451.14024)] consider a type of Calabi-Yau threefolds \(X\) as a smooth subvariety of \(\mathrm{Gr}(2, 5)\) of degree \(25\) in \(\mathbb{P}^9\). To the \(X\) one can associate a dual Calabi-Yau threefold \(Y\subset \mathrm{Gr}(3, 5)\). They showed the pair \(X\) and \(Y\) are derived equivalent, \textbf{L}-equivalent but non-birational. The author of the paper under review proves the Chow motives of \(X\) and \(Y\) are isomorphic. In general, it is conjectured by \textit{D. O. Orlov} [Russ. Math. Surv. 60, No. 6, 1242--1244 (2005; Zbl 1146.18302); translation from Usp. Mat. Nauk 60, No. 6, 231--232 (2005)] that any two derived equivalent smooth projective varieties have isomorphic Chow motives with rational coefficients. The proof involves computations of higher Chow groups, and Chow motives of fibrations [\textit{C. Vial}, Doc. Math. 18, 1521--1553 (2013; Zbl 1349.14027)].
