By taking inspiration from Archimedes' theory of centre of gravity, the authors introduce for non-null masses with finite support an arbitrary non empty set \(A\), the notion of quasi-barycentric mean, which is a map from the set of all such masses into \(A\) which satisfies the properties of consistency, shift sensitivity and associativity. In the case of vector spaces, explicit computation by the barycentre of finite distribution of masses is provided.
