Let \(R\) be a commutative ring. An Adams stack over \(R\) is a stack \(X\) on the fpqc-site of affine schemes over \(R\) satisfying the following conditions: There exists a commutative \(R\)-algebra \(B\) and a faithfully flat morphism \(Spec(B)\rightarrow X\), i.e., there exists an affine atlas, \(X\) has an affine diagonal and, finally, \(X\) satisfies the resolution property, that is, all finitelly presentable quasi-coherent sheaves are quotients of vector bundles. As was proved by the author of the paper under review in [``A characterization of categories of coherent sheaves of certain algebraic stacks'', Preprint, \url{arXiv:1206.2764}], Adams stacks are precisely the stacks associated to Adams Hopf algebroids. The main contribution of this paper is Theorem 1.1.1. This result asserts the following: The \(2\)-category of Adams stacks over \(R\) has all bicategorical limits and colimits. To obtain the cocomplete condition of the \(2\)-category of Adams stacks, the author works with the restriction of the gluing construction to vector bundles, the generalized Tanaka duality, developed by himself in [\textit{D. Schäppi}, J. Reine Angew. Math. 734, 145--186 (2018; Zbl 1428.18030); Math. Proc. Camb. Philos. Soc. 157, No. 3, 391--423 (2014; Zbl 1305.18043)] and the paper cited in the previous paragraph, and a variant of Deligne's argument for the existence of fiber functors which works in arbitrary characteristic (this version of the Deligne's existence theorem for fiber functors is the main tool used in this paper to recognizing stacks which have atlases).
