\(q\)-series identities connecting partial and false theta functions with \(q\)-hypergeometric series goes back to Ramanujan [\textit{B. C. Berndt}, Ramanujan's notebooks. Part III. New York etc.: Springer-Verlag (1991; Zbl 0733.11001)]. The origin of false theta functions is not completely understood, their primary source is usually attributed to meromorphic Jacobi forms [\textit{K. Bringmann} et al., Harmonic Maass forms and mock modular forms: theory and applications. Providence, RI: American Mathematical Society (AMS) (2017; Zbl 1459.11118)]. False theta functions are similar to theta functions except for an alteration of the signs in some of the series terms, which prevents them from being modular forms. They appear in a variety of contexts including modular and quantum modular forms and many others [\textit{A. Folsom} et al., Forum Math. Pi 1, Paper No. e2, 27 p. (2013; Zbl 1294.11083)], [\textit{G. Casper} and \textit{M. Rahman}, Basic hypergeometric series. Cambridge: University Press (2004)], and [\textit{K. Bringmann} and \textit{A. Milas}, Int. Math. Res. Not. 2015, No. 21, 11351--11387 (2015; Zbl 1359.17039)]. The authors of the paper under review motivated by the Ramanujan's identity to present an analog of it for certain \(q\)-series. They prove several infinite families of \(q\)-series identities for false theta functions and related series. They also obtain closely related modular identities of the other types. As a byproduct of their identities, they establish several identities for the Rogers dilogarithm function coming from multi \(q\)-hypergeometric series with ``double poles''. Their method is based on long combinatorial forms of computations.
