Motivated by ultraweak variational formulation of the classical diffusion-convection-reaction problem and the three-dimensional Maxwell equations the authors are concerned with the construction of the Fortin operators for the DPG method. Their main contribution is gathered in three lemmas about polynomial spaces satisfying the orthogonality constraints necessary for Fortin operators.
