A parabolic-elliptic system modelling chemotaxis-consumption phenomenon of aerotaxis \[n_t=\Delta n-\nabla\cdot(n\nabla c),\] \[\Delta c=nc,\] is studied under no-flux condition for \(n\) and a nonhomogeneous Robin condition \(\partial_nu=(\gamma-c)g\) where \(\gamma>0\) is a constant and \(g>0\) is a given function. Global-in-time existence of classical solutions is shown. Their large time asymptotic behavior is described by (non necessarily space-homogeneous) solutions of the stationary system. Thus, a pattern formation asymptotics is proved to occur in a realistic setting of boundary conditions relevant in biology of aerotactic bacteriae.
