The authors investigate the occurence of Hopf bifurcations from a spatially nonhomogeneous steady state solution for a scalar reaction-diffusion-advection equation with nonlocal delay effect and Dirichlet boundary conditions. After proving the existence of a positive steady state solution they investigate the eigenvalue problem of the linearized system and using careful estimates in appropriately weighted spaces they show, that Hopf bifurcations occur and the eigenvalues cross the imaginary axis with positive speed. For vanishing time delay the equilibrium solution remains throughout stable. The analytical results are numerically demonstrated for a diffusive logistic model.
