Extensions of the discrete KP hierarchy and its strict version (Q2215156)

The authors obtain extensions of the discrete KP hierarchy and of its strict version. The extension of the discrete KP hierarchy turns out to be a 2-Toda lattice hierarchy (see [\textit{K. Ueno} and \textit{K. Takasaki}, Adv. Stud. Pure Math. 4, 1--95 (1984; Zbl 0577.58020)]), while the extension of the strict discrete KP hierarchy can be obtained from the first extension by a limiting procedure. The authors prove that both extended hierarchies admit a linearization, thus allowing a geometric construction of their solutions.
