Recall that a continuum \(X\) is called arc-like if for every \(\epsilon> 0\) there exists a finite open cover \(U_{\epsilon}= \{U^{\epsilon}_1,\ldots,U^{\epsilon}_{n(\epsilon)}\}\) of \(X\), of mesh \(\epsilon\), such that \(U^{\epsilon}_i\cap U^{\epsilon}_j=\emptyset\) if and only if \(|i - j| \leq 1\). We say that the space \(X\) has the fixed point property, denoted by FPP, if any map \(\phi \colon X \to X\) has a fixed point. By a hyperspace of a continuum \(X\) we mean a specified collection of subsets of \(X\) endowed with the Hausdorff metric. By \(K(X)\) and \(C(X)\) we denote the hyperspace of all closed subsets of \(X\), and the hyperspace of all subcontinua of \(X\), respectively. We say that \(X\) has the property FPPS if and only if for every map \(\phi \colon X \to X\) the induced map \(\hat{\phi} \colon C(X) \to C(X)\) has a fixed point in each \(\hat{\phi}\)-invariant subcontinuum \(S\) of \(C(X)\). The objective of the paper under review is to prove that arc-like continua have the FPPS. The authors also include some open questions, for example, they pose the question: What are the circle-like continua with the FPP?
