This paper is about estimation and hypothesis testing in the context of high concentration for spherical data. The great contribution of this article is that it provides results that allow one to make directional inference under high concentration without being restricted to the case of Fisher-von Mises-Langevin (FvML) distributions. In addition, this article applies the inferential techniques developed to real data in the field of paleomagnetism.
