The authors define an almost convex space. Relationships between this new notion and the existing ones, including strictly convex and uniformly convex spaces are established. The problem of continuous selection is investigated in an almost convex space. Selections with nice properties for the metric generalized inverse are investigated and an open question in the literature is answered affirmatively.
