This paper is concerned with the delayed evolution equation \[ u'(t)+ Au(t) = F(t, u(t), u_t),\qquad t\geq 0, \] where \(A\colon D(A)\subset X\to X\) is a closed linear operator, \(X\) is a Banach space, \(-A\) generates a \(C_0\)-semigroup in \(X\), and \(u_t(s):= u(t+s)\) for \(t\geq 0\), \(s\in [-r,0)\), and any continuous bounded function \(u\colon [0,\infty)\to X\). A function \(u\colon [0,\infty)\to X\) is called \(S\)-asymptotically \(\omega\)-periodic with \(\omega>0\) if \(\lim_{t\to\infty}\| u(t+\omega)-u(t)\| =0\). First, sufficient conditions are obtained for the existence as well as for the uniqueness of \(S\)-asymptotically \(\omega\)-periodic mild solutions using operator semigroup theory and fixed point theorems. Then -- using a Gronwall-Bellman-type inequality -- the authors prove that the unique \(S\)-asymptotically \(\omega\)-periodic mild solution is globally exponentially stable. Further conditions are established that guarantee the existence of an \(\omega\)-periodic function such that all solutions converge to it. Finally, the applicability of the abstract results is demonstrated by two examples.
