The notions and results of this rich content paper are well motivated by the theory of monotone functions and the theory of approximate convexity. For example, the notions of \(\Phi\)-monotone function, \(\Phi\)-Hölder function play an important role in the investigations. A real valued function \(f\) defined on a real open interval \(I\) is called \(\Phi\)-monotone if \[f(x)\leq f(y)+\Phi(y-x)\] holds for all \(x,y\in I\) with \(x\leq y.\) Here \(\Phi\) is a given nonnegative error function defined on the closed interval with endpoints \(0\) and the length of \(I\). If \(f\) and \(-f\) are \(\Phi\)-monotone simultaneously then \(f\) is said to be \(\Phi\)-Hölder function. \par Among the main results we find a description of structural properties of the function classes of \(\Phi\)-monotone functions and \(\Phi\)-Hölder functions, investigations connected with the error function, and a natural extension of the Jordan Decomposition Theorem known for functions of bounded total variations.
