Let \(X\) be a Banach space and let \(\lambda \in \left[ 1,+\infty \right[ \). The main theorem of this paper is an interesting refinement of Lindenstrauss' extension theorems concerning \(\lambda \)-injectivity of \(X^{\ast \ast }\). The authors prove that \(X^{\ast \ast }\) is \(\lambda \)-injective if and only if certain classes of operators on \(X\) or into \(X\) admit an integral representation. As application, another negative answer to a question raised by Zippin (concerning the extensions of the operators take their values in \(C(K)\) spaces) is given. Another important result is that \(X^{\ast \ast }\) is \(\lambda \)-injective if and only if every compact operators on \(X\) or into \(X\) factors compactly through \(c_{0}.\)
