The commutator word is defined inductively by the formulae \(\delta_{0}=x_{1}\) and \[ \delta_{k}(x_{1},x_{2},\ldots,x_{2^{k}})=[\delta_{k-1}(x_{1}, \ldots,x_{2^{k-1}}), \delta_{k-1}(x_{2^{k-1}+1}, \ldots , x_{2^{k}})]. \] The subgroup generated by the \(\delta_{k}\)-values in a group \(G\) is \(G^{(k)}\), the \(k\)th term of the derived series of \(G\). The main result proved in the paper under review is Theorem 1: The \(k\)th term of the derived series of a finite soluble group \(G\) is nilpotent if and only if \(|ab|\) = \(|a||b|\) for any \(\delta_{k}\)-values \(a, b \in G\) of coprime orders.
