Let \(k\) be an algebraically closed field and let \(A\) and \(B\) be two central simple \(k\)-algebras. It follows from the well-known theorem due to \textit{A. S. Amitsur} and \textit{J. Levitzki} [Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 1, 449--463 (1950; Zbl 0040.01101)] that \(A\cong B\) if and only if \(A\) and \(B\) satisfy the same polynomial identities. Clearly one cannot drop the condition on \(k\) being algebraically closed: the real quaternions and the \(2\times 2\) matrix algebra over the real numbers are not isomorphic but they satisfy the same identities. Nor can one relax the requirement of the algebras being central simple, easy examples can be constructed. It turns out that central simple algebras can be distinguished by their identities in many situations, including Lie and Jordan algebras, graded algebras, and so on. Recently \textit{Y. Bahturin} and \textit{F. Yasumura} [Linear Algebra Appl. 562, 1--14 (2019; Zbl 1435.17006)] (see also [\textit{Y. Bahturin} and \textit{F. Yasumura}, São Paulo J. Math. Sci. 13, No. 1, 39--72 (2019; Zbl 1435.17007)]) obtained a far-reaching general theorem that encompasses most of the known results in this direction. In the paper under review, the authors consider non-semisimple monomial Hopf algebras \(H\) over an algebraically closed field of characteristic 0. Their classification was given by \textit{X.-W. Chen} et al. [J. Algebra 275, No. 1, 212--232 (2004; Zbl 1071.16030)]. \textit{C. Kassel} [Ann. Math. Blaise Pascal 20, No. 2, 175--191 (2013; Zbl 1292.16024)], studied polynomial \(H\)-identities for an arbitrary Hopf algebra \(H\). He introduced the so-called \(H\)-Galois objects which are \(H\)-comodule algebras, cleft extensions of \(k\). In the case when \(H\) is a Taft algebra he proved that the \(H\)-galois objects can be distinguished by their \(H\)-identities. The authors of the paper under review extend this theorem to the situation when \(H\) is a non-semisimple monomial Hopf algebra.
