On the search for tight frames of low coherence (Q2226996)

The authors develop methods for generating tight frames with low coherence using energy minimization on the projective space which consists of all lines in \(\mathbb{R}^d \) (or \(\mathbb{C}^d \)) through the origin. These configurations form well-separated frames that are nearly tight. The main contributions of the paper are minimal energy results for the projective Riesz kernel, and related construction of nearly tight and well-separated frames. This is illustrated with relevant numerical examples.
