For \(t>0\) let \[ p_t(x)=\frac{k_d t}{(t^2+|x|^2)^{\frac{d+1}{2}}},\quad x\in\mathbb{R}^d \] denote the Poisson heat kernel, where \(k_d=\Gamma(\frac{d+1}{2})/\pi^{\frac{d+1}{2}}\). For a Lebesgue measurable set \(\Omega\subset \mathbb{R}^d\), the heat content over \(\Omega\) with respect to the Poisson heat kernel is now defined as \[ \mathbb{H}_\Omega(t)=\int_{\Omega}\int_{\Omega} p_t(x-y) \,\mathrm{d} x \,\mathrm{d} y,\quad t>0. \] In the introduction of this paper, the author gives a nice overview of the different applications and connections of this function with the fields of spectral theory, stochastic processes as well as geometric measure theory. In [J. Geom. Anal. 27, 492--524 (2017; Zbl 1361.60033)], the author conjectured that if \(\Omega\) has finite volume and finite surface area, then the limit \[ \lim_{t\to 0^+} \frac{1}{t} \left(|\Omega|-\mathbb{H}_\Omega(t) - \frac{\text{Per}(\Omega)}{\pi}t\ln\left(\frac{1}{t}\right) \right) \] exists, where \(|\Omega|\) denotes the volume of \(\Omega\) and \(\text{Per}(\Omega)\) its surface area. In particular, this limit is expected to display certain geometric features of the set \(\Omega\). In [the author, Bull. Lond. Math. Soc. 52, 1093--1104 (2020; Zbl 1460.35188)] this conjecture was confirmed if \(\Omega\) is the Euclidean unit ball and an explicit representation of the limit above was found. In this article, the author confirms the conjecture if \(\Omega\) is a convex body, i.e., a compact convex set with non-empty interior. Furthermore, an explicit representation of the limit is given which involves the radial function of the difference body, the brightness function as well as the covariance function.
