Let \(\sigma\) be a non-empty compact subset of the complex plane. The authors continue their study of the space \(AC(\sigma)\) of absolutely continuous functions on \(\sigma\) [the authors, Adv. Oper. Theory 5, No. 2, 474--488 (2020; Zbl 1447.46040)]. Unlike the case of continuous function spaces, composition by a homeomorphism of the underlying sets need not induce an isomorphism of the corresponding function spaces; see [the second author and \textit{M. Leinert}, Stud. Math. 228, No. 1, 7--31 (2015; Zbl 1343.46050)]. We take this opportunity to correct the review of [the authors, loc. cit.], where we did not emphasize this aspect. Thus this long paper continues the study of sets \(\sigma\), \(\tau\) for which a homeomorphism can be chosen so that the composition induces an isomorphism of the function spaces. For this, the authors introduce the notion of polygonally inscribed curves (PIC). One of the main results (Theorem 7) is that, for sets \(\sigma\), \(\tau\) in this class that are homeomorphic, a homeomorphism can be chosen to induce an isomorphism of the function spaces \(AC(\sigma)\) and \(AC(\tau)\).
