Summary: Isaacs, Passman, and Manz [\textit{I. M. Isaacs} and \textit{D. S. Passman}, Pac. J. Math. 24, 467--510 (1968; Zbl 0155.05502); \textit{D. S. Passman}, ibid. 17, 475--496 (1966; Zbl 0145.03005); \textit{O. Manz}, J. Algebra 94, 211--255 (1985; Zbl 0596.20007); ibid. 96, 114--119 (1985; Zbl 0567.20004)] have determined the structure of finite groups whose each degree of the irreducible characters is a prime power. In particular, if \(G\) is a nonsolvable group and every character degree of a group \(G\) is a prime power, then \(G\) is isomorphic to \(S\times A\), where \(S\in\{A_5, \mathrm{PSL}_2(8)\}\) and \(A\) is abelian. In this paper, we change the condition, each character degree of a group \(G\) is a prime power, into the condition, each character degree of the proper subgroups of a group is a prime power, and give the structure of almost simple groups whose character degrees of all proper subgroups are all prime powers.
