Take the Lie algebra \(\mathcal{V}\) of vector fields on an affine variety \(X\) of dimension \(N \), and define \(\mathcal{A}\mathcal{V}\)-modules as those \(\mathcal{V}\)-modules that admit a compatible action of the commutative algebra \(\mathcal{A}\) of polynomial functions on X and are finitely generated as \(\mathcal{A}\)-modules. The category of \(\mathcal{A}\mathcal{V}\)-modules generalizes the class of \(\mathcal{D}\)-modules. In [\textit{Y. Billig} et al., Isr. J. Math. 233, No. 1, 379--399 (2019; Zbl 1473.17020)] the gauge \(\mathcal{A}\mathcal{V}\)-modules were introduced. In the paper under review the irreducibility of simple gauge \(\mathcal{A}\mathcal{V}\)-modules as modules over the Lie algebra \(\mathcal{V}\) of vector fields is investigated.
