      Let \(X\) be a Tychonoff space and \(\beta X\) denote its Stone-Čech compactification. \(X\) is called a \(P_F\)-space if of any two zero-sets in \(X\) whose union is all of \(X\) at least one is open. \(X\) is called an \(F\)-space if every point \(p\) of \(\beta X\) is an \(F\)-point, i.e., every ideal \(O^p\) is prime. It is well known that \(X\) is an \(F\)-space if and only if every cozero-set in \(X\) is \(C^*\)-embedded. Whenever every dense cozero-set in \(X\) is \(C^*\)-embedded, the space \(X\) is called a quasi \(F\)-space. Some algebraic characterizations of \(P_F\)-spaces are given. It is shown that any compact (pseudocompact) \(P_F\)-space is finite. Some characterizations of \(P_F\)-spaces via \(z\)-ideals are given.
