This paper presents a useful, detailed, systematic and comparative study pertaining to the biomechanical modeling of the tissues with important applications in medical fields. The presentation includes a detailed description of the traditional classic (hyperelastic) formulations and their viscoelastic adaptations. However, the focus of the present research is on the development of fractional viscoelastic formulations and associated testing. A large number of references is provided for the interested researchers to study the relevant literature to aid in understanding and developing more realistic future fractional formulations. The paper includes an extensive analysis and interpretation of various combinations of viscoelastic models, testing protocols and parameters. The wealth of information presented in the main body of this paper includes only selected results due to space limitations. The complete information including the comparison of 4,216 viscoelastic models under 144 testing conditions can be found in the online version of the paper. I found the research and the related material presented in this paper very interesting and impressive. I believe the presented research to be very useful for the researchers and investigators working in the field of biomechanical modeling.
