    In this paper, the authors revisit the notion of public key encryption with filtered equality test (PKE-FET), introduced in [\textit{K. Huang} et al., J. Comput. Syst. Sci. 89, 400--409 (2017; Zbl 1372.68087)]. A formal definition for the security of PKE-FET is presented. In the second part, a new PKE-FET scheme, which achieves a stronger level of security than the existing scheme, is proposed.
