In this paper the authors study the existence of solutions for an equation of type \[\left\{ \begin{array}{lll} -\operatorname{ div}(|\nabla u|^{p-2}\nabla u)=\beta(1+|\nabla u|)^q+c(x)|u|^{p-2}u+f(x), & \text{ in }\; \Omega,\\ u=0,& \text{ on }\; \partial \Omega, \end{array} \right.\tag{1} \] where \(\Omega\subset{\mathbb R}^N\) (\(N\geq 2\)) is an open and bounded set, \(p\in(1,2)\), \(q\in(p-1,p-1+pN^{-1})\) and \(\beta\in(0,\infty)\) are three real numbers and \(c(x)\geq 0\), \(c(x)\not\equiv 0\) and \(f(x)\) are two measurable functions. The solutions of problem (1) are obtained as ``limit of approximations''. More precisely, solutions of problem (1) are obtained as the limit of a sequence of solutions for a family of approximating problems for which the existence of solutions is proved by using Schauder's fixed point theorem. In particular, the results from this paper complement those obtained by the same authors in [Differ. Integral Equ. 32, No. 3--4, 223--232 (2019; Zbl 1424.35164)].
