The authors deal with linearly viscoelastic shells of the thickness \(2\varepsilon\) having the middle surface \(S=\theta(\bar\omega)\subset \mathbb{R}^3\), where \(\omega\subset \mathbb{R}^2\) is a bounded connected open set with a Lipschitz continuous boundary and \(\theta \in C^3(\bar\omega;\mathbb{R}^3)\). The paper shows that the viscoelastic Koiter's model is the most accurate in order to solve the displacements problem of a viscoelastic shell. The authors use the same assumptions as for the viscoelastic elliptic membranes problem. They justify the considered two-dimensional model for all kinds of viscoelastic shells.
