The author studies the loss of regularity with time for solutions to the 2D incompressible Euler equations in the torus \({\mathbb T}^2\) in the Sobolev space \(W^{1,p}\). By deriving and using the key lemma which is in some sense complementary to the log-Lipschitz estimate, the author shows that an \(L^\infty\cap W^{1,p}\)-vorticity with \(p < 2\) may continuously lose integrability, that is, there is an initial data \(\omega (0)\in L^\infty({\mathbb T}^2)\cap W^{1,p}({\mathbb T}^2)\), such that the vorticity \(\omega (t)\) of the corresponding unique solution, which belongs to the Yudovich class, satisfies \(\omega (t)\not\in W^{1,p}({\mathbb T}^2)\) for any \(t>0\). Consequently, this paper extends the related result to the one in less regular Sobolev spaces.
