Inspired by the definition of pulled thread spaces, Sormani introduces smocked metric spaces in the paper. Then Sormani and Maziar show that a smocked space is complete and noncompact. The authors give some examples of smocked spaces and show unique tangent cones for various smocked spaces that are normed spaces instead of Euclidean spaces.
