In the paper under review, the author investigates the homogenization problem for matrix strongly elliptic operators. More precisely, the author considers uniformly bounded functions \(A_{kl} \colon \mathbb{R}^d\times \mathbb{R}^d \to \mathbb{C}^{n\times n}\), \(k,l \in \{1,\dots,d\}\), that are Lipschitz in the first variable and periodic in the second. Then the operator \[ \mathcal{A}^\varepsilon =-\sum_{k,l=1}^d\partial_kA_{kl}(x,\varepsilon^{-1}x)\partial_l \] is defined. Under the assumption that for \(\varepsilon\) close to zero the operator \(\mathcal{A}^\varepsilon\) is coercive, the author obtains approximations for \((\mathcal{A}^\varepsilon-\mu)^{-1}\) and \(\nabla(\mathcal{A}^\varepsilon-\mu)^{-1}\) with \(\mu\) outside of the spectrum of \(\mathcal{A}^\varepsilon\). In particular, under suitable assumptions, it is shown that \[ \|(\mathcal{A}^\varepsilon-\mu)^{-1}-(\mathcal{A}^0-\mu)^{-1}\|_{L_2\to L_2}\leq C\varepsilon\, , \] \[ \|(\mathcal{A}^\varepsilon-\mu)^{-1}-(\mathcal{A}^0-\mu)^{-1}-\varepsilon \mathcal{C}^\varepsilon_\mu\|_{L_2 \to L_2}\leq C\varepsilon^2\, , \] and \[ \|\nabla(\mathcal{A}^\varepsilon-\mu)^{-1}-\nabla(\mathcal{A}^0-\mu)^{-1}-\varepsilon \nabla \mathcal{K}^\varepsilon_\mu\|_{L_2 \to L_2}\leq C\varepsilon\, , \] \(\mathcal{A}^0\) being the effective operator and \(\mathcal{C}^\varepsilon\), \(\mathcal{K}^\varepsilon\) the correctors.
