Let \(A\) be an algebra, denote as \(A^{-}\) be the same vector space as with a multiplication given by \([x,y]=xy-yx\). An algebra \(A\) is called Lie-admissible if \(A^{-}\) is a Lie algebra (i.e., the Jacobi identity is satisfied). In the present article the authors ``study free Lie-admissible algebras and prove an analogue of the Poincaré-Birkhoff-Witt (PBW) theorem.'' To construct such a base a linear base in a Lie-admissible algebra is constructed. Then a well-ordering on the linear basis is defined such that the ordering is more or less compatible with the product. Finally the theory of Groebner-Shirshov basis a applied.
