Let \((M_1, d_1)\) and \((M_2, d_2)\) be metric spaces. A mapping \(F\colon M_1\rightarrow M_2\) is called an {isometry} if for all \(u,v\in M_1\) one has that \(d_2(F(u), F(v))=d_1(u,v)\). If \(X\) and \(Y\) are Banach spaces, \(0\in M_1\subset X\) and \(0\in M_2\subset Y\), then the isometry \(F\colon M_1\rightarrow M_2\) is called \textit{standard} when \(F(0)=0\). A classical theorem from [\textit{T. Figiel}, Bull. Acad. Pol. Sci., Sér. Sci. Math. Astron. Phys. 16, 185--188 (1968; Zbl 0155.18301)] says: Let \(X\) and \(Y\) be Banach spaces and \(F\colon X\rightarrow Y\) be a standard isometry. Then there exists a unique bounded linear operator \(T\colon\overline{\mathrm{span}} \,F(X)\rightarrow X\) with \(\|T\|=1\) such that \(TF = \mathrm{Id}_X\). Denote by \(C(K)\) the real Banach space of all continuous functions on a compact Hausdorff space \(K\) and by \(C_{+}(K)\) the positive cone of \(C(K)\). The main result of the author is the following: Let \(Y\) be a Banach space and \(F\colon C_{+}(K)\rightarrow Y\) be a standard isometry. Then there exists a bounded linear operator \(T\colon \overline{\mathrm{span}} \, F(C_{+}(K))\rightarrow C(K)\) with \(\|T\|=1\) such that \(TF= \mathrm{Id}_{C_{+}(K)}\). Moreover, \(T^\ast(C(K)^\ast)\) is 1-complemented in \(\overline{\mathrm{span}}[F(C_{+}(K))]^\ast\).
