Geometric generated family of distributions: a review (Q2244838)

For a positive integer-valued random variable \(N\) and an IID sequence of positive random variables \(T_1,T_2,\ldots\) independent of \(N\), the authors review properties of the random variables \(\max\{T_1,\ldots,T_N\}\) and \(\min\{T_1,\ldots,T_N\}\), particularly in the case where \(N\) is geometrically distributed. The focus is on the relationship with power series and compound distributions, and on applications to real data sets, for which an extensive list of references is provided.
