Iterated monodromy groups, introduced by \textit{V. Nekrashevych} (see, e.g., [Self-similar groups. Providence, RI: American Mathematical Society (AMS) (2005; Zbl 1087.20032)]), are a powerful tool for the study of the dynamics of post-critically finite holomorphic maps of several complex variables. However, they are usually hard to compute, and explicits results are known in very few cases only. This paper gives a complete description of the iterated monodromy group of a Chebyshev-like polynomial map associated to a root system \(\Phi\subset\mathbb{R}^n\). A Chebyshev-like polynomial map is a natural multidimensional generalisation, introduced the by \textit{A. P. Veselov} [Russ. Math. Surv. 46, No. 5, 1--51 (1991; Zbl 0785.58027); translation from Usp. Mat. Nauk 46, No. 5(281), 3--45 (1991)] and independently by \textit{M. E. Hoffman} and \textit{W. D. Withers} [Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 308, No. 1, 91--104 (1988; Zbl 0681.33020)], of the classical one-dimensional Chebyshev polynomials to study dynamical problems in real and complex settings. Given a root system \(\Phi\subset\mathbb{R}^n\) and an integer \(d\ge 2\) a Chebyshev-like map \(T_{\Phi,d}\colon\mathbb{C}^n\to\mathbb{C}^n\) is the unique polynomial solution of the functional equation \(T_{\Phi,d}\circ\Psi_\Phi=\Psi_\Phi\circ m_d\), where \(m_d\) is the multiplication by~\(d\) and \(\Psi_\Phi\) is the generalised cosine map associated to the root system~\(\Phi\). It turns out that each \(T_{\Phi,d}\) is post-critically finite, and the author shows that the associated iterated monodromy group is isomorphic to the affine Weyl group \(\widetilde{W}_\Phi\) of the root system. The paper is almost completely self-contained, giving all the necessary definitions, and it would be of interest to all experts of post-critically finite maps.
