In the paper, existence conditions and a construction procedure are studied for the solution of the linear differential-algebraic equation (DAE) \[ A(t)z'(t)=B(t)z(t)+f(t),\qquad t\in [a,b], \] which satisfies the boundary condition \(\ell z(\cdot)=\alpha\), where \(A(t),\, B(t)\) are \((m\times n)\) matrices continuous on \([a,b]\), \(f(t)\) is a continuous vector function and \(\ell z(\cdot)\colon C[a,b]\to {\mathbb R}^q\). It is known that for the \((n\times n)\) matrix \(A(t)\in C^q[a,b]\) of constant rank, there exists a pseudo-inverted (pseudoinverse) matrix \(A^+(t)\in C^q[a,b]\) (see, e.g., Lemma 5, p.~43, in [\textit{V. F. Chistyakov} and \textit{A. A. Shcheglova}, Izbrannye glavy teorii algebro-differentsial'nykh sistem (Russian). Novosibirsk: Nauka (2003; Zbl 1074.34002)]). In the paper, a similar statement is obtained for the \((m\times n)\) matrix \(A(t)\in C^q[a,b]\) of constant rank (see Lemmas 2 and 3), i.e., \(\mathop{\mathrm{rank}} A(t)=const\le\min(m,n)\), \(t\in [a,b]\). The main result is a theorem on the existence conditions and the representation of a solution for the considered boundary-value problem in the case when there exists a full rank matrix \(\mathcal P(t)\), continuous on \([a,b]\), such that the matrix \(\mathcal A(t):=A(t) \mathcal P(t)\) has constant rank (\(A(t)\) may have a variable rank). In contrast to [\textit{O. A. Boichuk} and \textit{L. M. Shehda}, Nonlinear Oscil., N.Y. 10, No. 3, 306--314 (2007; Zbl 1268.34050); translation from Nelinijni Kolyvannya 10, No. 3, 303--312 (2007)] providing conditions for the existence of a solution of the boundary-value problem considered above, where \(m=n\), as well as the form of the solution, this paper does not use the central canonical form.
