A Hermitian metric is called strong Kähler with torsion (SKT for short) if its associated \((1,1)\)-form \(\omega\) satisfies \(\partial\bar{\partial}\omega=0\). Given a differentiable family of compact complex manifolds \(\{M_t\}\) and a smooth family of Hermitian metrics \(\{\omega_t\in A^{1,1}(M_t)\}\), the paper under review obtaines some necessary conditions on when this family of Hermitian metrics \(\omega_t\) being SKT for each \(t\). In their proof, the tool of extension map and extension formulas (introduced and studied by \textit{S. Rao} and \textit{Q. Zhao} [J. Geom. Anal. 28, No. 4, 2984--3047 (2018; Zbl 1420.32006)] are used in an essential way.
