The study of centralizing and commuting mappings on prime rings was initiated by the result of Posner in 1958, which states that the existence of a non-zero centralizing derivation on a prime ring implies that the ring has to be commutative. Through the years, a lot of work has been done in this context by a number of authors. In fact the study of commuting mappings is closely related to the notion of biderivations, for instance Vukman 1989 and 1990. In the last few decades a lot of results on biderivations and related mappings of prime and semiprime rings as well as of certain algebras have been obtained by Argaç 2006, Atteya 2010 and Ashraf and Rehman 2011. Besides biderivations also 3-derivations and more general \(n\)-derivations on prime and semiprime rings were considered. This paper gives the affirmative answer to the natural question, whether we can extend the results of Posner and Vukman to skew 3-derivations. The paper contains 4 sections, in the first the author introduces the notion of symmetric skew 3-derivations with some basic observations in section 2, in section three the author proves the Theorems 1 and 2, which are considered as main results, where the aim of this paper is to study symmetric skew 3-derivations of prime and semiprime rings, in section 4, the author closes her paper by some open problems, where she puts four conjectures with definition of skew \(n\)-derivations. The author supports her results by some examples to illustrate some important concepts which are considered main concepts of her paper. In general the author submits strong and good results, where she presents a new definition of symmetric skew 3-derivation which is better if we remember a skew derivation is one of the natural generalizations of usual derivations. Also, the paper represents a suitable extension of the results mentioned in the introduction of the paper. This research provides good results from what is one of the important sources of reliable and validated results. It represents a step forward in this area with the added references to use the diversity between ancient and modern.
