The author considers the 3D incompressible Navier-Stokes equations on a smooth, bounded domain with zero boundary data. On the one hand, on intervals of regularity, a uniform high order strong Galerkin approximation is established, which also provides an alternative approach to simultaneously obtain local existence and regularity. On the other hand, additional details on the boundary behaviour with regards to the Stokes operator are derived. The author expects these results directly extend to the NS-\(\alpha\) system to verify the boundary conditions used in [\textit{J. E. Marsden} and \textit{S. Shkoller}, Philos. Trans. R. Soc. Lond., Ser. A, Math. Phys. Eng. Sci. 359, No. 1784, 1449--1468 (2001; Zbl 1006.35074)], as well as to the Bénard problem and MHD equations with the approach used in [\textit{J.-G. Liu} et al., J. Comput. Phys. 229, No. 9, 3428--3453 (2010; Zbl 1307.76029)].
