Let \(G\) be a finite group, let \(\mathcal O\) be a sufficiently large complete discrete valuation ring with residue characteristic \(p>0\), and let \(e\) be a block (idempotent) of the group algebra \(\mathcal OG\) with defect group \(D\) and corresponding source idempotent \(i\). An \(\mathcal OGe\)-module \(M\) is Brauer-friendly if the \(\mathcal OD\)-module \(iM\) is an endopermutation module. Then every \(p\)-permutation \(\mathcal OGe\)-module and, more generally, every endo-\(p\)-permutation \(\mathcal OGe\)-module, in the sense of \textit{J.-M. Urfer} [J. Algebra 316, No. 1, 206-223 (2007; Zbl 1135.20005)], is Brauer-friendly. If \(e\) is the principal block then, conversely, every Brauer-friendly \(\mathcal OGe\)-module is an endo-\(p\)-permutation \(\mathcal OGe\)-module. The author introduces Brauer-friendly subcategories of the category of \(\mathcal OGe\)-modules, and slash functors, as generalizations of the Brauer construction for \(p\)-permutation modules. As an application, he obtains a parametrization of the isomorphism classes of indecomposable Brauer-friendly \(\mathcal OGe\)-modules.
