The authors focus on the study of auxin, a fundamental hormone for plant growth, and its spatial distribution in plant tissues through equilibrium configurations. Following a detailed description of the model as an undirected connected graph, for which the nodes are the cells and the edges indicate the movement of the auxin molecules, the basic properties of the auxin flow are presented. The equilibrium points and the stability definitions and properties are included. Next, the authors focus on the characterization of these points and the description of the processes in which they are involved, e.g., the pure transport or general transport processes. The next sections are dedicated to the study of the stability of pure transport processes and the asymptotic properties of a flux, respectively. The paper concludes with the analysis of the process on a circle and potential extensions of the model. The authors also include the full proofs of the propositions and corollaries in the appendix.
