In the paper some generalized metrizability properties in quasitopological groups and topological groups are discussed. It is shown that every weakly first-countable quasitopological group is symmetrizable. It is proved that the Sorgenfrey line is not homeomorphic to any quasitopological group, which gives a negative answer to a problem by \textit{A. Arhangel'skii} and \textit{M. Tkachenko} [Topological groups and related structures. Atlantis Studies in Mathematics 1. Hackensack, NJ: World Scientific; Paris: Atlantis Press (2008; Zbl 1323.22001)]. An example is given of a first countable regular quasitopological group which is not Moore, and of a Moore quasitopological group which is not metrizable. Also \(csf\)-countable topological groups are considered. It is proved that every feathered (in particular, locally compact) \(csf\)-countable semitopological group is metrizable, and an example is given of a sequential and \(csf\)-countable regular topological group which is not \(snf\)-countable.
