This collective monograph contains selected articles devoted to various applications of dynamical systems and presented at the International conference on Dynamical Systems (Lodz, Poland 2--5, 2013). They cover the following topics: Nonlinear phenomena in plates and shells theory: Ch. 3 Non-linear phenomena exhibited by flexible cylindrical and sector shells by V. A. Krysko et al., where vibrations of such shells under the action of uniformly distributed static loads are studied at the usage of Bubnov-Galerkin method and the finite difference method, Ch. 5 Turbulent phenomena in flexible plates and shells by J. Awrejcewicz et al., presenting the study of periodic and chaotic dynamics of plates and shells and weak turbulent behavior exhibited by these solid structures modeled as 2D infinite objects; Dynamic systems (DS) in machine-tool construction: Ch. 13 Vibration surveillance system with variable stiffness holder for milling flexible details, by K. J. Kalinski et al. present an idea of the workpiece holder with adjustable stiffness to be applied in milling of flexible details; this holder, together with vibration surveillance system, allows for more efficient milling at the usage of slender ballend tools without interference of vibrations. Ch. 20 Reliability analysis of the Dynamics of a horizontal drill-string, by T. G. Ritto and R. Sampaio, deals with the reliability analysis of a horizontal drill-string dynamics on the base of stochastic probabilistic computational model, where a bar model (tension/compression) is used for the drill-string, and the system is discretized by means of the finite element method. Constrained motion of mechanical systems and tracking control. This topic is presented in Ch. 2 Asymptotic of ``rigid-body'' motions for nonlinear dynamics: physical insight and methodologics by V. Pilipchuk, where it is shown that in the understanding of essentially nonlinear phenomena some elementary nonlinear models play the role of a basis, and in Ch. 16 by F. E. Udwadia, and H. Mylapilli, exposing the interrelations and connections between constrained motion and tracking control for nonlinear mechanical systems. Diversities in the inverse dynamics are discussed in Ch. 14 by W. Blajer on example of inverse simulation for underactuated servo-constraint problem. The governing equations arise either as ODEs or DAE (differential-algebraic equations). Singularly perturbed ODEs with periodic coefficients arise in Ch. 23 by F. Verhulst, Hunting French Ducks in population dynamics, analyse there by using fast and slow timescales in the framework of Fenichel geometric singular perturbation theory and its extensions and reveal the presence of slow manifolds, canards and the dynamical exchanges between several slow manifolds. To asymptotic solutions of the problem of vortex structure of a stationary viscous incompressible fluid flow around a cylinder is devoted the Ch. 11 by R. G. Akhmetov and R. R. Kutluev Vortex structure around the cylinder at a flow of viscous fluid. Asymptotic analysis and limiting phase trajectories in the dynamics of spring pendulum are reflected in Ch. 12 by J. Awrejcewicz et al. To biological applications of DS are relative the Chapters 21, Transition in oscillatory behavior in mouse oocyte and mouse embryo through oscillatory spherical net model of mouse zona pellucida by A. N. Hedrih; Ch. 35, A delay mathematical model for HIV dynamics in HIV-specific helper cells, by C. M. A. Pinto and A. R. M. Carvalho. To the problems of nonholonomic constraints in wheeled robots and DS in transport are devoted the Ch. 33, Coordinate-free formulation of nonholonomic constraints for wheeled robots, by S. Sz. P. Cesar et al; Ch. 18, Dynamic properties of two-axle freight wagon with UIC double-link suspension as a non-smooth system with dry friction, by J. Matej et al. and Ch. 19, Dynamics of mecahical systems with mecanum wheels, by K. Zimmermann. Investigations on regular and chaotic dynamics are contained in Ch. 8, Quasi-regular and chaotic dynamics of postural sway in human, by N. Kizilova et. al., Ch. 17, The general conception of the intellectual investigation of the regular and chaotic behavior of the DS Hamiltonian structure, by C. Ruchkin; to control in chaos and microchaos are devoted the Ch. 6, Using bifurcation diagrams for controlling chaos, by D. Morcillo et al. and respectively Ch. 28, Methods for the quick analysis of micro-chaos, by G. Gyebroszki and G. Csernak. DS in expert systems are considered by W. Cholewa in Ch. 25, Dynamical statement networks, DS with delay -- in Ch. 27, Automatic sleep scoring from a single electrode using delay DE, and in already mentioned Ch. 35. To aerodynamic pendulum and its limit cycles is devoted the Ch. 31, by Y. D. Selyutskiy; to rare phenomena and chaos in switching power converters -- the Ch. 15, by D. Pikulin, to DS in nonstandard boundary value problems -- the Ch. 26, by R. Palej. Thus in the reviewed book various sides of the DS theory are reflected, including analytical, numerical and experimental techniques in their investigations.
