A system of two inhomogeneous linear functional equations (Q2250837)

The following system of inhomogeneous linear functional equations is investigated: \[ \xi(ax)-A\xi(x)=\phi(x),\qquad \xi(bx)-B\xi(x)=\psi(x), \] where \(a,A,b,B\) are given non-zero real numbers, and \(\phi,\psi: \mathbb{R}\to\mathbb{R}\) are given additive functions. In the second section the solvability, and the form of the solution of the first equation is examined. In the third section the same task is done regarding the whole system. The solvability and the uniqueness of the solution highly depend on the algebraic character of the coefficients and on the algebraic relationship between them.
