Switched Nonlinear Systems (SNSs) are nonlinear hybrid systems consisting of nonlinear subsystems (modes) and a switching function (logic) from one subsystem to another one. The book is devoted to the stabilization problem of SNSs using two main stability methods: the multiple Lyapunov functions technique and the (average) dwell-time scheme method. The basic problems of SNSs are: 1) Find conditions that guarantee that the switched system is stable for arbitrary switching function, 2) Identify those classes of switching functions for which the switched system is stable, 3) Construct a switched function that makes the switched system stable. The book consists of 7 chapters. Chapter 1 is an extended introduction to the topic of the monograph. In Chapter 2 several stabilization methods are proposed for SNSs with partial unstable subsystems. The stabilization problem of SNSs with all unstable susbsystems is investigated in Chapter 3. A generalization of the stabilization theory to SNSs with state variation at switching instants is presented in Chapter 4. SNSs with time-varying parameters are addressed in Chapter 5, where a new stabilization method for these systems is presented. SNS with distributed parameters are investigated in Chapter 6. Conclusions and some future research directions are given in Chapter 7. The monograph is devoted to scientists and Ph.D. students in control theory specially in switched nonlinear systems.
