The authors show that the class of functions \(f\) in the disc algebra \(A(\mathbb D)\), the real parts \(u=\) Re\(f\) of which, considered on the real line \(\mathbb R\), are nowhere differentiable, their harmonic conjugates \(\widetilde u\), considered on the unit circle \(\mathbb T\), extend continuously to \(\overline{\mathbb D}\) and, considered on \(\mathbb R\), are nowhere differentiable on \(\mathbb R\), is residual, i.e., contains a dense \(G_\delta\) subset of \(A(\mathbb D)\). They show also that the same result holds if ``nowhere differentiable'' is replaced by ``nowhere Hölder''. Similar results are proven for the poly-disc algebra \(A({\mathbb D}^I)\), where \(I\) is a finite or countably infinite set, and their directional derivatives.
