Non-commutative Orlicz spaces can be defined either in an algebraic way [\textit{W. Kunze}, Math. Nachr. 147, 123--138 (1990; Zbl 0746.46062)] or via Banach function spaces [\textit{P. G. Dodds} et al., Math. Z. 201, No. 4, 583--597 (1989; Zbl 0653.46061)]. \textit{M. H. A. Al-Rashed} and \textit{B. Zegarliński} [Stud. Math. 180, No. 3, 199--209 (2007; Zbl 1126.46042)] established the theory of non-commutative Orlicz spaces associated to a non-commutative Orlicz functional. Their non-commutative Orlicz functional is related to those introduced by \textit{R. F. Streater} [Open Syst. Inf. Dyn. 11, No. 4, 359--375 (2004; Zbl 1084.81024)], where the author used a specific Young function \(\cosh(x)-1\), which has a particular importance in quantum information geometry. Recently, they investigated a theory associated with a faithful normal state on a semi-finite von Neumann algebra [\textit{M. H. A. Al-Rashed} and \textit{B. Zegarliński}, Linear Algebra Appl. 435, No. 12, 2999--3013 (2011; Zbl 1221.46065)]. In [J. Math. Anal. Appl. 395, No. 2, 705--715 (2012; Zbl 1258.46025)], \textit{G. Sadeghi} considered another approach based on the concept of modular function spaces. In this work, the authors study the non-commutative Orlicz spaces associated with a growth function and the corresponding Orlicz-Hardy spaces associated with a finite subdiagonal algebra in Arveson's sense [\textit{W. B. Arveson}, Am. J. Math. 89, 578--642 (1967; Zbl 0183.42501)]. Moreover, they prove Riesz- and Szegő-type factorization theorems and the contractivity of the conditional expectation on non-commutative Orlicz-Hardy spaces associated with a growth function.
