In this interesting paper, the author studies tight wavelet frames with symmetry. This paper is mainly motivated by results of \textit{B. Han} and \textit{Q. Mo} [SIAM J. Matrix Anal. Appl. 26, No. 1, 97--124 (2004; Zbl 1088.65127)] to further study tight wavelet frames and their associated filter banks with symmetry and 2 high-pass filters. First, the author presents a complete characterization of splitting positive semi-definite \(2\times 2\) matrices of Laurent polynomials with symmetry. Based on this result on matrix splitting with symmetry, a necessary and sufficient condition for a tight framelet filter bank with symmetry is given. This study leads also to new efficient algorithms for the construction of tight framelet filter banks with symmetry and 2 high-pass filters. Several examples illustrate the results.
