It is well-known that for a given number \(\beta\in(1,2)\) the corresponding Bernoulli convolution \(v_\beta\) on the set \(I_\beta= [0,{1\over\beta- 1}]\) is given by \(v_\beta=m\circ \pi^{-1}_\beta\), where \(m\) is the \(({1\over 2},{1\over 2})\)-Bernoulli measure on \(\{0, 1\}^{\mathbb{N}}\) and \(\pi_\beta:\{0,1\}^{\mathbb{N}}\to I_\beta\) is defined by \[ \pi_\beta(\alpha)= \sum^\infty_{i=1} \alpha_i\beta^{-i}. \] A systematic study has been developed by \textit{P. Erdős} [Am. J. Math. 61, 974--976 (1939; Zbl 0022.35402; JFM 65.1308.01)], \textit{A. M. Garsia} [Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 102, 409--432 (1962; Zbl 0103.36502)], among others, regarding the determination of the values of \(\beta\) for which the corresponding Bernoulli convolution \(v_\beta\) is singular or absolutely continuous. The aim of the present paper is to study the above-mentioned problem, in the case that \(\beta\) is a Pisot number and \(v_\beta\) is totally singular. Since in such case the corresponding Bernoulli convolution \(v_\beta\) has Hausdorff dimension less than one, that is, there exists a set \(A_\beta\) with \(v_\beta(A_\beta)= 1\) for which \(\dim_H(A_\beta)< 1\), the author manages to construct sets of zero Lebesgue measure with full \(v_\beta\)-measure, given that \(v_\beta\) is totally singular and \(\beta\) is a Pisot number, through the sets \(A_\beta\) having the above properties. This is done by using elementary calculations on digit frequencies for the greedy \(\beta\)-transformations, in the case that \(\beta\) is equal to the golden mean or by further developing the theory of normalization for \(\beta\)-expansions, in the case of generalization for all Pisot numbers.
