The purpose of the present paper is to obtain \(H^s\) estimates for the inverse of an \(N\times N\) complex matrix \(A\), depending on a parameter \(\theta\), in a compact interval. Under some special compatibility conditions, the authors prove a so-called small divisor theorem. They provide an example that demonstrates that in the absence of any compatibility conditions the small divisor theorem can fail. In the last section of the paper, there is a short description of an application to periodic solutions of a PDE. In this case, \(A(\theta)\) is a finite dimensional linearized operator that appears in a Nash-Moser type Newton iteration for periodic solutions of the compressible Euler equations.
