The asymptotic expansion of symbols plays a fundamental role in the study of pseudo-differential operators. For instance, it is well-known for the classical Hörmander symbols that if \(a_j \in S^{\tau_j}_{1,0}\), where \(\tau_j\) is some sequence of real numbers decreasing to \(-\infty\), then there exists a unique \(a \in S^{\tau_1}_{1,0}\) modulo \(S^{-\infty}_{1,0}\) such that \[ a - \sum_{k<j} a_k \in S^{\tau_j}_{1,0}. \] In this paper, the authors establish several asymptotic expansions for the Hörmander class of symbols \(S(m,g)\) parametrized by a metric \(g\) and a weight function \(m\). In their main result, they prove under the assumptions that \(g\) is feasible and \(m\) is \(g\)-continuous that if \(a_j \in S(h_g^{r_j} m ,g)\) with \(r_j,R_j \in \mathbb R\) satisfying \[ \lim_{j \to \infty} r_j = \infty \quad \text{and} \quad R_j = \min_{k \geq j} r_k, \] then there exists \(a \in S(h_g^{R_1} m,g)\) such that \[ a - \sum_{k<j} a_k \in S(h_g^{R_j}m,g) \qquad \text{for all }j\geq1. \] Moreover, the element \(a\) is uniquely determined modulo \(S(h^\infty_g m , g)\). In the above, \(h_g\) denotes the Planck's constant associated to the metric \(g\). By choosing \(g\) and \(m\) appropriately, they obtain in the last part of the paper some applications of their results to symbol classes of the form \(S^\tau_{\rho,\delta}\) and to the generalized SG classes.
